Screen

We use the Functional Movement Screen to analyse athletes movement literacy in fundamental movement patterns. Here we discover if an athlete has pain (medical problem) or an inability to complete a certain pattern (movement problem) or no problems with basic movements. Tell me more…

Our bodies have evolved for movement. From the earliest forms of animal life, movement has been an evolutionary goal, refined over the eons. Our nervous system, cardiopulmonary system, and musculoskeletal system have all developed for movement. Movement is life. We are animated beings……

THE
PERFORMANCE PYRAMID

The performance pyramid represents how human movement can be categorised into functional movement quality, fundamental movement capacity, and functional skill. The shape of pyramid, tapering towards the top, illustrates that we cannot build capacity (strength/power/endurance) on poor function, and likewise, we cannot build specific functional skill in a given pursuit without adequate capacity. The Move Strong method incorporates natural/primal movement and StrongFirst kettlebell techniques to build resilience and adaptability.

Corrective Strategies

Based on findings of the FMS, the athlete is instructed on a series of progressive corrective exercises aimed at restoring movement patterns, improving physical capacity and performance, and improve overall skill.

The corrective strategies break down dysfunctional movements into issues of mobility and motor control. They must provide an achievable challenge so that the maximum change in ability in achieved as quickly as possible.

Conditioning

Move Strong promotes strength and movement as the ultimate goal in rehabilitation and performance. It is the foundation for speed, power, agility.
